The Gerbera moment of Hemelse Bloemen

The Gerbera moment of Hemelse Bloemen

We spoke with Amanda from Hemelse Bloemen, a flower shop in the center of Delft.

"We set ourselves apart by staying close to our customers. We seek connection and personalize our flowers
."

For those who don’t know you, who are you and what do you do?

I’m Amanda, and from a young age, I knew that my heart belonged to flowers. I’ve gained a lot of experience working in various flower shops and have now been working for over a year at Hemelse Bloemen Delft, a charming flower shop with creative colleagues, always looking for something new with a beautiful story. We are sustainably certified and during the season, we offer a stunning range of organic flowers.

What makes your job so special?
Every day is different—the people, the flowers, the assignments. It’s wonderful that flowers are used for so many occasions and are, in fact, indispensable. From offering comfort to a congratulation, to being part of the most beautiful day of your life, and providing solace during the more difficult moments, flowers are also key in decorating exhibitions or stands! Flowers bring joy, that's a given. Since you’re close to your customers, you can also create a strong connection by personalizing the flowers for them, and that’s where we should really distinguish ourselves.
What opportunities do you see for Hemelse Bloemen in the future?
We are very focused on the organic flower range and want to promote that much more. There are still many opportunities for the future that we’d like to share with a broader audience
Who is an inspiring role model for you?
I can’t really name one specific person in the flower world; all of my colleagues inspire me :) But I would like to mention Roos, the owner of Hemelse Bloemen. So young and driven! She always has new ideas and is innovative in every way.Wij zijn heel erg bezig met het biologische bloemen aanbod en willen dat veel meer uitdragen. Daar liggen voor de toekomst nog heel veel kansen die we graag met een groot publiek willen oppakken.
What has been your highlight over the past year?

Through this work, I’ve had the chance to connect with many interesting companies. I’ve also often been pushed out of my comfort zone by different assignments.

What’s your tip for the Dutch ornamental plant sector?

With the growing demand for organic flowers, it would be great to see this offering expand nationwide.

Thanks for the interview Amanda!
